In 1982 STM was organized as St. Thomas More to fill the recreational soccer void for young players attending St. Thomas More School as well as players in the surrounding geographic areas. In 1987 STM joined the PA West Soccer Association in order to offer the more advanced players a chance to travel and compete against local Sunday travel organizations. As the need changed in the early 1990s, STM changed its name to simply "STM" and began to offer programs for the most advanced/premier players in the state association. On June 1, 2007 the state association approved the name change from STM to Steel Town Magic. At the same time the colors of purple and white were changed to black and gold and uniforms will reflect these changes. At the same time, the organization is forging ahead with plans to offer programs for the younger (9-10) year old players.

A number of organizations rank teams and clubs throughout the country.

Among them, Got Soccer is one of the most respected company.

While rankings are based on the number of tournaments attended (and thus

not always a true judge of a team or clubs ability), the standings are one

measure of comparison with other teams/clubs.The Boys U-19 team ranked

#1 in PA WEST ahead of the state champions-Beadling; tied for #10 in the

region ahead of FC Delco (Eastern PA state champion) tied for #33 in the

nation (out of 407 teams ranked). Great Work gentlemen! STM will field a

U-19 boys team this spring (playing a limited schedule).

New players welcome to try out. Please e-mail name, address, phone, etc. to www.stmsoccer.org.

Findlay Township Opens New Complex

Leopold Lake Complex in Findlay Township hosted its first soccer match

on Saturday, October 27, 2007. Steel Town Magic 97B hosted Hotspurs

in a close competition that saw Hotspurs defeat Magic 1 - 0.

The new complex consists of a baseball field, a deck hockey park, a

rollerblade maze, and a soccer field. The hockey and rollerblade areas

are well lighted for evening usage. The sports facility is built at various

elevations and from the top field spectators can view a beautiful scene

of the surrounding hills and valleys.

Special thanks to Gaye Kline and Rosalie and Derek McCracken who were

instrumental in arranging the first time usage of the soccer field.

Congratulations - AGAIN!

The STM Tigers '89 did it again! This time they won the Elite Bracket in the U-18 age group of the

FC Nike Challenge Cup held in Columbus, Ohio. The team only allowed 1 goal to be scored against

them in the 4 games they played. The final game was a cliff-hanger - the score was 0-0 until the

last 5 minutes when they clinched the title. Great Work team! Thank You!

weather on Saturday. All games with STM teams were played although 2 teams schedule were delayed

on Sunday due to fog at complex.

The STM Tigers '89 in their first outing of the '06 - '07 season won the Championship title after defeating

West Shore Stealth (PA-East) 4- 0, Bethesda Bullets (MD) 1-0, and LDSA XTreme (PA-East) 2-1. The

championship game was an intense match in which the Tigers defeated the home team Seneca Fire (MD)

2-1. There were 12 teams in the Potomac Division (top division) and 8 teams in the Chesapeake Division.

This is the second year in a row that an STM team has won this division. Last year the STM Tigers '88 won
